Editorial & corrections
Sourcing
- News articles are synthesized from at least two independent sources, listed in a Sources section at the end of the article. We do not republish or reword any single outlet's reporting.
- Cost guides use researched ranges from industry data, government statistics, and published market pricing — plus what we see in real estimates through our work with repair businesses.
- We never invent statistics, prices, quotes, or credentials. If we can't verify a number, we don't print it.
Cost figures
Every estimate table on this site is a researched national or regional range. Labor rates, parts availability, and local demand mean your actual quote can land outside our range — that's why every table carries a "your shop's numbers will vary" note, and why we recommend getting multiple written quotes for any significant job.
Disclosures
- Businesses featured in spotlights are real businesses. When we have a working relationship with one, the article says so.
- Some cost guides contain affiliate links; if you buy through them we may earn a commission at no cost to you. Advertising and affiliate relationships never set our editorial coverage or our numbers.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix the article, note the change, and refresh the "Updated" date. Spotted an error? Tell us — corrections requests are read first.
Updates
Cost data ages fast. Guides are reviewed periodically and the Repair Cost Index figures in the site ticker are re-checked roughly monthly against their sources.
